Wesley is a biology student at UCR with a minor in data science.
In the Mauck Lab, he is investigating the activities of Hermetia illucens, also known as black soldier flies, including their food decomposition properties and their behavior given certain olfactory stimuli.
Outside of the Mauck Lab, he participated in the Dynamic Genome Summer Scholars program in 2023 where he investigated the effects of mPing insertions in rice strains, along with a proposal to use LsARF3 gene knockout to reduce lettuce bolting. In 2024, he participated in the KGI SURE program where he explored various pharmacogenomic and drug repurposing methods.
